Lexington unveils ONE Lexington strategic plan during Cities United visit

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) Lexington welcomed national nonprofit Cities United this week as part of its Leading the Way Tour, which supports community-driven efforts to reduce violence. The visit, according to the Mayor’s Office, also included the release of the updated 2025–2028 ONE Lexington Strategic Plan.

Cities United is investing more than $100,000 into local youth violence prevention efforts. That funding will support youth stipends and community grants aimed at building safer neighborhoods.

Mayor Linda Gorton credited Cities United for its partnership with ONE Lexington and praised the team’s collaboration with police, public safety agencies, and community groups.

As part of the visit, Cities United hosted several events with local leaders, young people, and grassroots organizations to help strengthen Lexington’s approach to public safety.

A major milestone during the tour was the launch of the All Hearts on Deck strategy—part of the newly released ONE Lexington plan. The updated plan was developed through extensive community input and focuses on three pillars: social cultivation, community development and advocacy, and addressing root causes of violence.

The Mayor’s Office says the strategy blends national models with local insight to create sustainable, long-term solutions for reducing gun violence among youth and young adults.
