Lexington shelter seeks help after two starving dogs rescued in Manchester area

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – A Lexington animal shelter is asking for help after taking in two dogs found in dire condition over the weekend.

According to Paws 4 the Cause, a good Samaritan rescued a doodle and a puppy after spotting them Sunday night near her driveway in the Manchester area. The shelter said the animals appeared to have been on their own for some time and were nearly starved to death.

Paws 4 the Cause said the doodle was later taken to a groomer, who discovered a piece of metal attached to a bologna casing stuck in the dog’s tooth. The dog has since been shaved and the metal removed.

Now, the shelter is searching for a foster home for the animals in the Lexington or Georgetown area. Paws 4 the Cause is also accepting donations to help cover the dogs’ care.
