Lexington SC debuts new stadium in Super League match

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — After months of construction, Lexington Sporting Club officially opening the doors of their new stadium to fans for the USL Super league match.

The Lexington Sporting Club Super League team faced off against the Tampa Bay Sun FC on Sunday.

Lexington SC found it hard to get into the groove at first, Tampa Bay managed to get ahead early in the first half.

At halftime the visitors were leading 2-0.

During the second half, Lexington answered with two goals, but Tampa would add another goal.

Final score in Lexington 3-2.

Madi Parsons, who scored the first goal for LSC spoke on the atmosphere, “I was having chills, hearing the fans cheering for us. so thank you everybody that showed out, cause it was amazing coming out there.”

Coach Michael Dickey spoke on the loss, adding that, “we gave them too much of a head start and then it was, it was a difficult lead to catch, so we’re just going to have to do better next time.”

MaryKate McGuire, who scored the second goal saying, “unfortunate result for us, but we just keep going. We learned from this game, we figure it out and we move forward to Friday against Dallas.”

The ladies will be back at home on September 22, when they face off against Fort Lauderdale FC.
