Lexington says it is ready for weekend snow
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- The City of Lexington says it is ready for winter weather this weekend.
“The forecasters have warned us, and we’re listening,” Mayor Jim Gray said. “Our trucks and street crews are ready, and our salt barn is full. If the weather is bad, we know Lexington citizens will reach out and help their neighbors. We’re ready.”
Waste Management will start routes an hour earlier than normal Friday to finish collections before the snow arrives.
Snow removal crews will work the majority of Friday then start 12-hour shifts 8 p.m. that night.
More than 50 drivers will be on hand from 8 p.m. until 8 a.m. then the other half will take over.
The city currently has 6,000 tons of salt.
City crews and contractors will start sidewalk snow removal once the snow has stopped.
