Lexington Roots and Heritage Festival kicks off Friday

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The annual Roots and Heritage Festival kicks off Friday in Lexington, offering a weekend full of events celebrating African-American culture and heritage.

The three-day festival features an African-American marketplace and live performances on Elm Tree Lane. Organizers highlight the festival’s popular Heritage Parade, which begins Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m., followed by a band showdown performance.

The festival will conclude on Sunday with a gospel celebration.
