Lexington Rodeo Announcer runs the show

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Lexington Rodeo is in town over the weekend, and it’s your chance to see some of the best riders and athletes in the world compete.

Famed rodeo Announcer Chad Nicholson talks with ABC 36’s Amber Freeman and describes the competition and breaks down everything happening at the Lexington Rodeo.

Bull riding, barrel racing, and steer wrestling are just a few of the many events taking place at the Alltech Arena.  The Lexington Rodeo is the only PRCA rodeo in town, and is out on by the Rotary Club of Lexington. This is the third year for the event, and last year the show had a sold out crowd for Saturday night’s performance.

Besides the traditional rodeo events, spectators can expect to enjoy quality entertainment.  Renowned animal trainer, Tommie Turvey is scheduled to put on a thrilling halftime act including bareback stunts and tricks with specially trained horses.  His impressive resume includes training animals for the hit television series, The Walking Dead, and for movies such as, Fist Fight, Selma and Batman: The Dark Knight.

Crowd favorite, Hippie the Clown will be back in the arena once again this year making everyone laugh with his countless antics.

All the action takes place June 16th and 17th beginning at 7:30 p.m at the Alltech Arena, at the Kentucky Horse Park.
