Lexington Restaurant Honors Korean Veterans

It’s sometimes called ‘the forgotten war.’

Five million Americans served in the Korean War from 1950 to 1953, and more than 30,000 died.

Lexington’s Hananoki Japanese Restaurant hosted 27 veterans and their spouses Thursday from the Central Kentucky Chapter of the Korean War Veterans Association.

Marion Rankin was a Prisoner of War.

He says he’s moved by how he’s treated during the annual lunch, and during his trips back to Korea.

"I just can’t stop loving them. Really, they treated us…and did everything that you can imagine as we go back to have our reunion. Sometimes we go back to Korea. I’ve been back twice and they’ve treated us more than royalty."
