Lexington restaurant closed by health department over mice
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers was closed by the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department due to an infestation of mice, according to a report in the Lexington Herald-Leader.
The report says the gourmet burger chain also had contaminated single-service items. The business was shutdown on Tuesday, February 4, 2020.
The restaurant, on Polo Club Boulevard, near Costco, will remain closed until the rodents have been eradicated and management attends a conference with the health department, according to the report.
A spokesperson for the Kansas-based restaurant chain confirmed to the Herald-Leader that the business plans to reopen.
The company sent the following statement to ABC 36 News:
Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers is committed to serving our guests in a safe, clean and welcoming environment. In addition to Health Department inspections, Freddy’s regularly conducts independent, third-party food safety inspections at all locations, which this location passed, most recently, in January. The local owner is cooperating with the Health Department, and restaurant management is taking the necessary actions to address their recent findings.
