Lexington property tax to be discussed at special meeting
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The Urban County Council will hold a public hearing on Tuesday to discuss the city’s property tax rate. Each year, the council sets the rates for the “ad valorem” property taxes, which contribute significantly to funding public services.
Approximately 64% of the property taxes collected go to Fayette County Public Schools. Last month, the council advanced an ordinance to keep the rates the same as last year.
The public hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday afternoon at the Government Center in downtown Lexington, before the council takes a final vote.
