Lexington police speaking out on Sunday shooting
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Kentucky State Police has assumed the lead in the investigation into Sunday’s deadly shooting rampage in Lexington, carried out by suspect Guy House.
On Monday, KSP joined Lexington Police and One Lexington to provide an update on the violence that began on Terminal Drive — where a state trooper was shot — and ended at Richmond Road Baptist Church, where two women were killed and others injured.
Lexington Police Chief Lawrence Weathers expressed condolences to the families affected, calling the incident “a traumatic event” for the entire community. He also praised neighbors who stepped up in the chaos, including the person who quickly called 911 to report the trooper had been shot.
Weathers also acknowledged the work of Lexington officers, city employees, and community members “who have stepped up in the aftermath.”
State police said Monday that no additional details on the two surviving victims will be released until key witnesses are interviewed and critical evidence reviewed.
