Lexington Police Officers staying busy helping drivers

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexington Police Officers have been busy with all this winter weather. The department says there have been more than 40 accidents and officers have helped around 170 drivers who have gotten stuck in the snow.

But officers say drivers are being smarter than they were with the snow storm two weeks ago. Officers say numbers are down from the first big snow storm.

Officers spent Thursday checking on drivers stuck along the side of the road and calling tow trucks. But Officer Todd Kleinjan says he expected more calls.

“For the most part I didn’t see anybody doing anything really unreasonably stupid,” said Kleinjan.

Kleinjan says more people are staying inside and off the roads since the last storm.
