Lexington police officer hit while in cruiser on I-75

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) — A Lexington police officer was taken to the hospital Monday afternoon after being hit while in their police cruiser on I-75.

According to Lexington police, officers were directing traffic after a crash at mile marker 106 on I-75 southbound.

A car hit the police cruiser while an officer was inside.

The officer was trapped due to “significant damage” to both the cruiser and the car involved, police told ABC 36.

The officer was removed and taken to a local hospital for “precautionary reasons.”

The other driver wasn’t injured.

No charges are expected to be filed.
