Lexington Police: Manhattan Drive Shooting Drug-Related

Lexington Police believe a shooting that occurred on Manhattan Drive late Tuesday night was drug-related.

Officers said the University of Kentucky Emergency Room called them around midnight, letting them know they were treating a gunshot victim.

Police said the man was shot at 355 Manhattan Drive around 11 p.m.

The man told police two intruders broke into his home, argued with him and then shot him.

Officers said before they could thoroughly interview the victim, his health began to deteriorate.  He was then taken to surgery, according to police. They described his leg injury as critical.

Police also went to the home of the shooting, where they reportedly found the door open.

Lexington Police spokesperson, Sherelle Roberts, said it looked as though drugs may have been involved in the incident.

Officers said they plan to get a search warrant.

Despite being taken into surgery, the man’s brother said he is doing fine.
