Lexington Police Department asking for freeze pops
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Lexington Police Department hopes to connect with kids while helping them cool off this summer.
The department is once again collecting donations of freeze pops that will be given to children throughout the city.
The Freeze Pops for Kids fundraiser will run for one week, May 18-25.
Freeze Pops for Kids helps police and young people connect while sharing a frozen treat on a hot summer day, according to the department.
The freeze pops are taken to summer camps, city pools and other youth events.
Last year more than 72,000 freeze pops were donated.
The department says this year’s goal is 100,000 freeze pops.
Freeze pop donations can be dropped off at any Lexington Police roll call or Police Headquarters during regular business hours.
