Lexington police arrest suspect in Armstrong Mill Road shots fired incident

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Lexington police have arrested one person in connection with a shots fired incident that occurred Monday afternoon on Armstrong Mill Road.

We brought this story to you Monday as it was unfolding.

According to police, officers were sent to the 1000 block of Armstrong Mill Road just before 3:00 p.m. Monday, after receiving a report of an active shooter. When they got there, officers determined the incident involved a male suspect firing multiple rounds, striking a parked vehicle before leaving the scene.

No injuries were reported. Officers later located and arrested the suspect, identified as 29-year-old Cardreus Winters.

Winters has been charged with two counts of wanton endangerment 1st degree, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, tampering with physical evidence, trafficking in marijuana (less than 8 ounces) 1st offense, possession of drug paraphernalia, and two counts of discharging a firearm within the Urban County.

Winters is currently being held at the Fayette County Detention Center.
