Lexington native sentenced to life for murdering boyfriend
NEWPORT, Ky. (WTVQ)- A judge in Newport Thursday followed a jury’s recommendation and sentenced Lexington native Shayna Hubers to life in prison.
The jury convicted the 27-year-old of shooting and killing her boyfriend, 29-year old Ryan Poston, in 2012.
This sentence comes after Hubers’ second trial. A jury convicted her in 2015, but one of the jurors was a convicted felon and ineligible to be on a jury. So, she was tried a second time.
Hubers has already been behind bars for almost six years. She will be eligible for parole in 14-years.
She is a graduate of Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in Lexington and attended the University of Kentucky.
