Lexington native Anderson Miller moving up to Wilmington
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Outfielder Anderson Miller, the first Lexington native to play for the Legends, has been promoted to advanced-A Wilmington of the Carolina League. The promotion was announced Wednesday by the Legends’ parent club, the Kansas City Royals.
A graduate of Lafayette High School, Miller was a third round pick in the June 2015 draft after playing college baseball for Western Kentucky University. He joined the Legends July 18 of last year and batted .260 in 43 games with eight doubles, one triple, two homers and 21 runs batted in.
This season, Miller again played in 43 games for Lexington. He was sidelined from April 20 to June 5 due to surgery to remove the hamate bone from his right wrist. For the season, he is batting .284 with three homers and 18 RBI. Since his return to the lineup June 5, he is batting .307 in 32 games with nine doubles, three homers and 14 RBI.
The Legends recognized him with an Anderson Miller figurine giveaway at Whitaker Bank Ballpark July 1. Miller’s Kentucky ties were depicted on the figurine with a Legends jersey, Lafayette baseball pants and a WKU batting helmet.
“Anderson has been a great representative for the Legends on and off the field, and it’s been a pleasure to get to know him and his family during his time with the Legends,” said Legends president/CEO Andy Shea. “He’s certainly deserving of this promotion, and we wish him the best. He’ll always have the support of his hometown team.”
The Legends are currently playing a series in Kannapolis, and will return home Friday.
