Lexington Men Charged With Gang Recruitment

Two men in Lexington are accused of recruiting members for a gang.

Police arrested 29-year-old Gerald Smith and 49-year-old Gregory Smith around 10:00 Thursday night.

Officers say last September, both men were involved in an initiation ritual called a “beat-in” at Whitney Young Park.

Court documents say it is the first step to becoming a member of the Chicago-based gang “Black P Stones” which requires potential members to be beaten by other members for five minutes.
