Lexington man pleads guilty in cocaine dealing case
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Prosecutors say a Lexington man pleaded guilty in court Tuesday to conspiring to traffic more than five kilograms of cocaine.
The Eastern District of Kentucky says 26-year-old Eddie Tapia admitted that in June of 2019, officers found nine ounces of cocaine and several guns in his vehicle.
The court also says Tapia confessed that officers found drug paraphernalia while searching his home.
According to court documents, Tapia also says he agreed to distribute five or more kilograms of cocaine between December of 2018 and June of 2019.
Tapia was indicted in December 2019.
Prosecutors say Tapia is scheduled to be sentenced on June 2, 2020. He faces up to life in prison and a maximum fine of $10 million.
