Lexington man indicted in infant’s death

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A 30-year-old Lexington man has been indicted for capital murder in the death of a four-month-old infant.

According to Attorney General Daniel Cameron, Brent Dyer Kelty inflicted head trauma which caused the child’s death. Kelty also is indicted as a persistent offender.

The indictment was returned Tuesday by the Fayette County Grand Jury. The Lexington Police Department investigated the case. Assistant Attorney General Rewa Zakharia presented the case before the Grand Jury on behalf of the Commonwealth.

Kelty has been in the Fayette County Detention Center since March on charges of trafficking in methamphetamine, LSD, marijuana, and fentanyl, evidence tampering, being a persistent offender, and probation violation.

According to Fayette County Detention Center records, his arrest history dates back 10 years.
