Lexington man drowns while swimming at Laurel River Lake

WHITLEY COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – A nice day by the water ended in grief for one family after a man drowned in Whitley County.

A Fish and Wildlife investigator tells ABC 36 he was a 42-year-old man from Lexington.

According to Fish and Wildlife, he was swimming at Laurel River Lake Spillway Beach.

Family and friends say they saw him doing fine and then he didn’t come back up.

People practicing diving nearby had to go down and get him. When the investigator arrived on scene, they were doing CPR.
