Lexington invites residents to share personal stories for city’s 250th anniversary
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – As part of Lexington’s ongoing 250th anniversary celebration, the city will host StoryCorps, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to recording and preserving personal stories.
StoryCorps aims to capture the voices and experiences of people from all backgrounds and beliefs, preserving their stories in the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. The initiative offers Lexington residents a chance to share meaningful experiences, ensuring their stories can be heard by future generations.
“So as the city of Lexington celebrates its 250th anniversary, we hope the members of your community will use this booth as an opportunity to reflect together on how your city’s past influences its present and give you all the chance to imagine with each other what you want the next 250 years to bring to your city,” said Ian Murakami, manager of the StoryCorps Mobile Tour.
Interviews will take place through April 16 at Woodland Park and can be conducted either in person or virtually via Zoom.
