Lexington infant’s death ruled a homicide
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Fayette County Coroner’s Office says a Lexington infant’s death was caused by head trauma.
The coroner’s office says 4-month-old Landon Mays died September 8 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.
According to the Lexington Police Department, officers were called to the hospital on September 5 in reference to a child abuse report.
Police say Mays was brought to the hospital for an apparent seizure.
They say medical personnel told officers the boy was suffering from head trauma that was possibly suspicious and non-accidental.
An autopsy shows Mays’ injuries were consistent with abusive head trauma, according to the coroner.
His death is being investigated as a homicide.
Police say the Lexington Police Special Victims Section is investigating and detectives are awaiting lab results from an out of state medical examiner.
