Lexington health care worker receives national recognition

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A health care professional has been recognized for her work in a Lexington hospital.

Saint Joseph Hospital says Respiratory Therapist Diana Walker was awarded the Pulmonary Health and Illnesses of the Lung (PHIL) Award in recognition of her exceptional treatment and ability to motivate patients.

The hospital says the PHIL Award is the only nationally acknowledged hospital-based recognition program.

Walker is one of 19 honorees around the country, and Saint Joseph Hospital is the only hospital in Kentucky to have a respiratory therapist recognized with this honor.

A co-worker nominated Walker for the award, citing her consistently polite and eager attitude.

The PHIL Award was created in 2006 in honor of Philip C. Lamka, who fought Interstitial Lung Disease.
