Lexington Habitat for Humanity holds groundbreaking for revitalized Women Build program

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Lexington Habitat for Humanity hosted a ceremonial groundbreaking for the first home built under its newly revitalized Women Build program.

The event took place Wednesday, Sept. 17, at 10 a.m. at 732 Harrison Trace in Lexington.

Mayor Linda Gorton, a longtime supporter of Women Build, shared her experience working on a Habitat build site and spoke about the importance of women supporting one another in service to the community.

The ceremony honored the homebuyer, sponsor groups, and the teams of women who came together to build the new home.

Lexington Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build is a coalition of women working collectively to expand access to safe, affordable housing.
