Lexington group takes heat for plans to honor Ron Berry
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- A Lexington group called the ‘Community Inspiration Organization" will honor a group of deserving citizens this weekend for their contributions to the community.
But some are upset with the group for including Ron Berry among the honorees. Berry is the founder of Micro-City Government. The group taught leadership skills to underprivileged inner city children in Lexington.
But Berry was convicted of sexually abusing young boys in the program. He did prison time, and will remain on the state’s sexual offender registry for the rest of his life. Meanwhile, some used social media to question why Berry was among the honorees.
ABC 36 News spoke to Anthony Arnold with Community Inspiration Organization. He says Berry did a lot of good with Micro-City. He said, "God doesn’t judge."
