Lexington Fraternal Order of Firefighters kick off toy drive

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- It may be Halloween, but Lexington’s Fraternal Order of Firefighters is looking ahead to Christmas.

The FOF kicked off its 88th annual toy drive Wednesday at the “north pole”, the former Collins/Eastland Lanes on New Circle Drive near Winchester Road.

Last year, the toy drive helped more than 2,100 children.

This year, firefighters hope to give toys to at least that many kids.

Mayor Jim Gray donated the first toy, a fire truck.

If you want to apply to receive a toy from the drive, you must bring an application to the north pole (750 E. New Circle Road) before November 21st.

You can drop it off Monday through Wednesday from 9 am-2 pm and Thursday 9 am-7 pm.

To apply you must be the legal guardian or parent of the child. You must have a valid and current ID, which must have the same address as the application address.

You must have proof of residence in the form of a lease or utility bill.

Food stamp information, insurance bills, and social security information may not be used.

You must have the child’s birth certificate or a letter of attendance from a Fayette County School.

The child must be between the ages of birth to 12-years-old.

For more information, you can contact the FOF at (859) 523-9567 or visit its website.
