Lexington firefighters play at Rupp for colleague with cancer
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- Competition at Rupp Arena, Thursday night took the form of more than the Cats versus the Vols.
Lexington firefighter had a competition of their own. It was in good fun of course, but with a strong purpose. ABC 36 News has reported on the cancer diagnosis for firefighter Matt Logsdon before. The 10-year Lexington fire veteran learned recently of his stage four cancer. It’s affecting his liver and spine, among other places.
If you were at Rupp Arena, you noticed a special hashtag for the firefighter. His colleagues say by using it, you can learn more about Logsdon’s cancer.
Lexington firefighter and former UK Hoops standout Natassia Alcius summed up the event.
“Being able to give back to our fellow firefighter and just show him that we’re here for him 100%,” she says.
Logsdon himself addressed Solid Blue fans at the game Thursday saying in part, “working with my team of doctors to get better and get back home as soon as possible.”
