Lexington firefighters battle two overnight house fires
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Lexington firefighters responded to two separate house fires Friday, with both incidents ending safely and without injury.
The first fire happened on Gerald Drive, near Winburn Drive, where flames broke out in the front room of a home. Officials say the occupants had to escape through a second-story window, climbing onto the roof of the front porch before firefighters arrived and helped them down safely. Fortunately, no one was hurt. The fire was contained to one room, and the cause remains under investigation.
Hours earlier, crews also responded to a small bedroom fire just after midnight on Woodhaven Place. That fire was quickly extinguished, and there were no injuries or displacement.
Fire officials say both incidents serve as important reminders to have working smoke alarms and a fire escape plan.
