Garage fire kept from spreading to house with children at home
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexington firefighters kept a garage fire from spreading to the attached house where children were home on Acorn Falls Drive Thursday evening.
Firefighters say the call came in at 5:49 p.m.
According to Battalion Chief Brad Whittaker, when crews arrived, there were heavy flames and smoke coming from the garage.
Whittaker says they got the fire under control within 3-to-4 minutes. He says the fire was contained to the garage, but there was some smoke damage in the kitchen area.
A fire investigator was called to the scene to determine the cause of the fire.
Whittaker says four children were inside the home at the time of the fire, but were outside when firefighters arrived.
Investigators say no one was hurt.
