Lexington Fire Dept. Hosts ‘Autism Safety Day’ For Children

In case of an emergency, Lexington firefighters want to make sure children with autism are prepared.

The department hosted ‘Autism Safety Day’ Sunday.

Children and their families came out to Firehouse 20, to get to know firefighters and police officers.

The event encouraged children to play in fire trucks and police cruisers.

Their parents learned how to best keep their child safe.

The goal is to teach kids how to react in case of an emergency.

Families who missed the fun are welcome to stop by Lexington fire stations at any time.
