Lexington Fire Department receives an honor
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — As CPR & AED Awareness Week begins, the Lexington Fire Department is being recognized for its lifesaving efforts with a prestigious honor.
The department received the Moosnick Service Award from the American Heart Association, celebrating the success of its #LexSavesLives initiative. According to the release, bystander CPR rates in Fayette County more than doubled over the past year—rising from 8% in 2023 to 17% in 2024.
City leaders, including Mayor Linda Gorton, joined the celebration alongside community members and special guest “Mighty Lex” from the Lexington Legends, all helping to spotlight the importance of CPR training and emergency preparedness.
