Lexington Fire Department holds decontamination training for furry family members

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Lexington Fire Department held a training evolution Thursday morning, honing their skills in serving the public.  This training, however, won’t be used to help people.

Instead, firefighters with the Haz-Mat team shored up their animal service by training on decontaminating pets.

Firefighters say the training will be useful in instances where pets and animals come into contact with chemicals, and say it’s another way the department takes care of ALL family members in an emergency situation.
