Lexington Fire Department Helps Fight Massive Tire Fire In Louisville
The Lexington Fire Department’s foam unit, an engine company and a district major were called-in on Monday to help fight a massive fire at a tire recycling facility in Louisville.
The potentially toxic black smoke that filled the air all day forced people living within a one-mile radius of the fire to stay in their homes with the doors and windows shut.
People were also told to turn off their heating-cooling units and furnaces to keep the smoke out of their homes.
The Lexington Fire crews were called-in just after 6:00 p.m.
They were still on the scene at midnight.
