Lexington Fire Department adds first new ambulance since 2018
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The Lexington Fire Department has officially added a new ambulance to its fleet, the first in seven years.
Emergency Care 13, known as EC13, was placed into service Wednesday at Station 16, also called “the Cave.” Officials say the addition strengthens emergency medical response across the city as Lexington continues to grow.
Mayor Linda Gorton said the new unit ensures paramedics and firefighters have the tools they need to serve more people, faster. Fire Chief Jason Wells called the ambulance a historic milestone that reflects months of planning and support from city leaders.
According to officials, EC13 represents Lexington’s ongoing investment in public safety and life-saving services for the community.
