Lexington fire captain arrested on assault charge, placed on administrative duty

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — A Lexington fire captain has been arrested in Clark County on a misdemeanor assault charge, according to the Lexington Fire Department.

In a media advisory from Battalion Chief Derek Roberts, officials said Captain Brandon Voet was arrested July 17 on a charge of fourth-degree assault, a misdemeanor, according to state law.

Voet, who has been with the department since 2006, has been placed on paid administrative duty pending the outcome of the criminal investigation. The department says an internal investigation will also follow.

According to the media advisory, Voet was arrested by the Winchester Police Department.
