Whooping cough, also known as pertussis is a bacterial infection that gets into your nose and throat. It spreads very easily, but vaccines like DTaP and Tdap can help prevent it in children and adults. Many of the symptoms of whopping cough mirror that of a common cold, such as: mild coughing, sneezing, runny nose, and low grade fever. After 7-10 days, the cough turns from occasional to fits that end with a whopping sound. Whooping cough typical will spread easier in children, but people of all ages can get it.
