Lexington coming together to pray for Vegas
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Getting together seems comforting for many, after a tragedy like this. Wednesday, the city of Lexington had its own vigil for Las Vegas.
When something like this happens in our nation, it certainly hits home with all of us and that is exactly why the city of Lexington along with the Mayor are coming together to honor those who lost their lives in this terrible tragedy.
People with heavy hearts came together as one to pray and reflect.
“59 victims and hundreds wounded and they were people just like us, just like our citizens. They were out Sunday night to have a good time, and they lost their lives.”
During the vigil, the question was asked, by a show of hands, how many of you have gone to a concert? Almost immediately dozens of hands went up, from young to old.
“I think everybody should you know, keep that in their mind that this could happen anywhere anytime.”
It only took nine minutes to shoot more than 500 people.
“It makes me feel mad because i’m a citizen and they are a citizen and I don’t want them to be killed.”
But so many lives were spared that day because of the bravery and action of others.
“It’s been so much going on all over this world and we just need to slow down and just think about what’s going on and reflect on the love that we can give as people.”
“The human spirit triumphs during times of adversity and tragedy, it doesn’t fail us and thats what over time we can count on.”
The fountains in Triangle Park are lit up red, white and blue, to honor those who lost their lives.
