Lexington celebrates opening of new Community Paramedicine office
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Lexington city leaders held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of a new office space for the city’s Community Paramedicine Program.
Mayor Linda Gorton was joined by Fire Chief Jason Wells and members of the Lexington Police Department for the event, which took place at the new facility on Cisco Road.
The new offices include updated facilities and appliances to support the 14-member paramedicine team, which focuses on helping residents with complex, high-need medical and social service issues.
“These new offices will streamline and support the work of community paramedicine, which has transformed how the Lexington Fire Department responds to complex, high-need populations,” Mayor Gorton said.
The program is divided into three specialized teams: Quick Response, Mobile Integrated Health, and Crisis Response. In 2024, the program attempted 754 overdose follow-ups—resulting in 533 successful engagements.
