Lexington band director is semifinalist for Grammy

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- A Lexington band director is a semifinalist for a Grammy. Lois Wiggins is a band director at Edythe J. Hayes Middle School. She’s one of 25 semifinalists for the 2016 Grammy Music Educator Award.

Wiggins was nominated based on videos, essays and testimonials. The semifinalists will be narrowed down to a group of finalists. The finalists will get each get $1,000. And the winner will receive $10,000, and be flown to Los Angeles to accept the award and go to the Grammys. The winning school will also get the same amount of money.
