Lengthy barricade situation in Lexington ends peacefully
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A barricade situation that began early Friday evening ended peacefully around 12:49 a.m., according to Lexington Police.
Police say they received a call at 5:56 p.m. from a family who told officers a family member was having some sort of mental health crisis, was in the home alone and that there were possible firearms in the house.
The home is in the 2300 block of Woodfield Circle. Police say they set up a perimeter. Neighbors either voluntarily evacuated or sheltered-in-place as a precaution, according to police.
When officers couldn’t make contact with the man in the house, the Lexington Police Department’s Emergency Response Unit (ERU) and Crisis Negotiation Unit (CNU) were called-in.
Police say the nearly seven-hour standoff ended without incident. The man’s name wasn’t released.
