Legislators reccognized by Georgetown community for support of Senate Bill 5
GEORGETOWN, Ky. (WTVQ) – Sen. Damon Thayer and Rep. Phil Pratt were recognized by local business and community leaders in Georgetown as 2021 Partners for Commonsense Justice.
The Kentucky Partnership for Commonsense Justice’s award honors state legislators who have worked to help small businesses, healthcare providers and schools.

Thayer’s and Pratt’s support of Senate Bill 5 led to their recognition. The bill focused on protecting health care providers, businesses, organizations, schools and individuals who have reopened and are following recommended COVID guidelines. A large coalition of groups from the business, medical, education, retail and other sectors supported the legislation. Sen. Thayer co-sponsored the bill and Rep. Pratt helped it pass in the House.
Their awards were presented Thursday morning at the Georgetown Community Hospital (GCH).
“As a healthcare provider, we witnessed many challenges firsthand in the past year,” said Haugh went on to say, William Haugh, Chief Executive Officer at GCH and Kentucky Hospital Association Board Chairman. “We really appreciate the hard work of Senator Thayer in co-sponsoring the bill and getting it to the floor, as well as Representative Pratt to secure its passage in the House.”
