Leave non-perishables by mailbox today to Stamp Out Hunger

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- The postal service needs your help today to Stamp Out Hunger.

Kentuckians are asked to leave non-perishable food, in a bag, at their mailbox. Postal carriers will pick them up. And all the food will end up at local food banks and pantries.

One of the Central Kentucky recipients in the Stamp Out Hunger food drive is God’s Pantry Food Bank. Rebecca Wallace is with the non-profit group. She says, "What we love to see right now, we’re really low on canned fruit. We also like to see protein items, such as peanut butter, and also baby food items. But again, as long as they’re in plastic containers and they can’t be expiring in the next couple of months."

Also, there should be no items in glass containers. And if you can’t leave non-perishables by your mailbox, you can also take them to your local post office. Click here for the Stamp Out Hunger Facebook page. You can also get more information on the food drive by clicking here.
