Kentucky households can apply for LIHEAP heating assistance starting November 3
FRANKFORT, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Kentucky families needing help with heating costs this winter can soon apply for one-time assistance through the LIHEAP Fall Subsidy program.
Applications open November 3 and will be accepted through December 12 at local Community Action Agencies across the state.
The program helps eligible households pay for heating costs, including electricity, gas, propane, coal, wood, or fuel oil. Benefit amounts are based on income, fuel type, and housing category, with payments sent directly to the household’s energy provider.
To qualify, households must meet income guidelines up to 150 percent of the federal poverty level. No past-due or disconnect notices are required.
Applicants should bring proof of income, a Social Security card or Green Card, and their most recent energy bill. For more information or to find your local Community Action Agency, click HERE.
