Lawrenceburg Fugitive Charged with 100 Counts Child Pornography
FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – An Anderson County man wanted for possessing child pornography was found and arrested on Thursday morning, according to the Kentucky Office of the Attorney General.
Investigators say 46-year-old William Richard Smith of Lawrenceburg was charged with 100 counts of possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor.
The investigation began in June after detectives say they identified a computer sharing images depicting the sexual exploitation of children online.
The following month, they say they searched Smith’s home in Lawrenceburg and found a computer that contained thousands of images related to the sexual abuse of children.
The attorney general says charges were being filed against Smith when he fled the state.
He was located in Fayette County, Ohio but investigators say he traveled back to Kentucky Wednesday night and was arrested.
Smith is currently in the Shelby County Detention Center.
At this time, no bond or court date has been set.
