Laurel Sheriff: Hit-And-Run Suspect Escapes From Home Incarceration
The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office said Terry Mullins, 47, of Corbin, escaped from his Greenfield Lane home on Friday afternoon.
He was accused of driving under the influence and hitting a 17-year old boy on his bike on US 25 and driving off on September 5, 2014.
Investigators said Mullins was found two miles from the hit-and-run scene with the teenager’s backpack embedded in the front grill of the van he was driving.
Mullins was charged with assault, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to render aid and driving under the influence.
Investigators said they believed Mullins fled his home incarceration around 3:00 p.m.
They said he could be under the influence of alcohol.
Mullins was described as a white male, 5’9," 150-pounds with long brown hair, green eyes with a metal prosthesis left leg.
