Laurel sheriff: Driving restricted to emergencies only
LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office says driving in winter storms Friday and Saturday is limited to emergencies only.
It says more than seven inches of snow has already accumulated in the area. Deputies say vehicles have run off the road, and several are stuck in the snow. They say a tractor trailer jack knifed. The sheriff’s office is also investigating an injury crash that it says happened earlier on Kentucky 80.
As deputies continue to patrol traffic, they’re reminding the community that the Laurel County Fire Department has set up shelters for people without heat. They say the Kentucky National Guard has been activated to help on I-75 where several trucks are sideways, blocking the interstate.
