Laurel Deputies: Drunk driver crashed in trooper’s yard

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office says a drunk driver went off the road, then crashed in a state trooper’s front yard. It happened Monday afternoon off of Barbourville Road, about 5 miles south of London. Investigators say the driver hit a mailbox, and almost hit cars parked in the driveway.

Deputies arrested 51-year-old Rajendrakumar Patel of London. They say he’s charged with driving under the influence, and faces other traffic violations. According to the sheriff’s office, Patel admitted to drinking Johnny Walker bourbon earlier in the day.
