Laurel County student arrested after replica gun found in backpack, says sheriff
LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 News Now) – An arrest has been made following an incident at East Bernstadt School Tuesday (5/07).
According to the Laurel County Sheriff’s office, school staff discovered a replica, non-operational firearm in a student’s backpack as the student tried to enter the school through a metal detector.
The Laurel County Sheriff’s School Resource Officer apprehended the student, and an investigation by the Sheriff’s Office is ongoing.
Preliminary findings suggest that no students were in any danger during the incident.
The student has been charged, and further investigation is underway.
