Laurel County sheriff seeks help identifying person of interest in bank theft investigation

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help identifying a person of interest connected to a bank theft investigation in southern Laurel County.

According to Laurel County Sheriff John Root, the sheriff’s office is investigating the fraudulent use of an individual’s identification, along with the theft of a large sum of money from a bank. The incident happened Wednesday morning, in southern Laurel County.

Sheriff Root says investigators are working to identify the woman shown in surveillance images released by the sheriff’s office. Authorities say she is wanted for questioning as part of the investigation.

Anyone who recognizes the individual or has information about her identity or whereabouts is asked to contact the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office at 606-864-6600. Tips can also be sent through a private message on the sheriff’s office Facebook page or by email at tgacciardo@laurelcountysheriff.gov.

Sheriff Root says all information provided will be kept strictly confidential.
